What is a storyboard?
A storyboard turns a shot idea into image references before video generation.
It helps you confirm the character, scene, composition, mood, and visual style before creating the final video.
How do you generate a storyboard?
After entering the Storyboard page, click Generate Storyboard in the input area below the Agent chat panel, then describe the image direction you want.
You can describe:
- Who is in the image
- Where it happens
- What the character is doing
- What the camera should feel like
- What visual style the image should have
- What the mood and lighting should be
Example:
A young palace woman stands at the entrance of the imperial garden, restrained but visibly tense. There are palace lanterns and tree shadows in the distance. The image should feel like a period drama, with soft lighting, cinematic composition, and a delicate realistic style.
If you have already created a story outline and episode, you can also click Generate Storyboard below the Agent chat panel and enter:
- "Create a storyboard for Shot 1"
- "Create storyboards for all shots in this episode"
After you submit, the Agent will generate one or more groups of storyboard images.
How do you use generated storyboard images?
After the storyboard is generated, you can do two things with the images you like:
- Save to Library: use the image again later
- Bind to Asset: let the Agent remember which character, scene, or prop this image belongs to
How do you make a video from storyboard images?
If you want to use a Seedance 2.0 series model to generate a video from a storyboard image, you need to create an asset first.
Go to the Episode page. In the My Assets panel on the left, click Visual Reference, then click the + icon in the upper-right corner to create a new asset.
After filling in the name and description, click the + icon on the right side of the modal. In the upload modal, choose the storyboard image you just generated, then click Save.
After binding is complete, open the input box in the Agent chat panel.
You can use a prompt like this:
Please reference the asset "Zhen Huan - Imperial Garden Look" and the storyboard image that was just bound. Use Seedance 2.0 to generate a 15-second video. In the scene, Zhen Huan stands at the entrance of the imperial garden, pauses briefly, then slowly walks into the courtyard. Her expression is restrained and alert, as if she is holding back emotion before entering an important occasion. Start with a medium shot, push in slightly, and keep a cinematic composition. The overall style should feel like a period drama, with soft palace lantern light, tree shadows and palace walls in the background, and a delicate, realistic, stable image. Keep the character appearance, costume, scene mood, and storyboard reference consistent.
